今回はUKチャートですら圏外の曲も少なくないのですが、これまで同様にディスク1の前半を大ヒット曲で、ディスク2の前半をダンスナンバーで固めています。
調べてみて気になったのは、モンテル・ジョーダンの全米1位曲「This Is How We Do It」(→YouTube)の歌パートをやや早回しでサンプリングし、そのミュージックビデオも用いたジョー・ストーンの「The Party(This Is How We Do It」からの、サンプリング元としても人気のクリスタル・ウォーターズ「Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)」(→YouTube)を下敷きにしたニック・ブリュワーらによる「Talk To Me」という流れ。
『Now』シリーズではここ最近、必ずといっていいほど90年代前半のR&Bヒット曲をサンプリングした楽曲が収録される傾向にあります(イギリス版”Now”最新作、『Now 90』 トラックリスト公開(3月16日付)でも触れました)。イギリスでこういう動きが活発だということなのでしょうか。だとすれば次に引用されるのがどの曲になるのか、気になるところです。
